Allan Nett has been a student of yoga for almost 4 decades,and was influenced by his direct study with BKS Iyengar, Geeta and Prashant Iyengar who live in Puna India. He has now been teaching Iyengar Yoga for over 26 years and has earned a Junior Intermediate Level llI Iyengar Yoga Certification. Senior certification is the next level.
Allan teaches public classes and workshops at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco, and at his own studio in St. Helena Ca., “Iyengar Yoga in the Napa Valley” with Jaki Nett his partner and wife, who has earned a senior level certification in the Iyengar system, also regularly substituting at the “Bay Club cm” and for “Yoga Works”. For the past 5 years he has regularly traveled to China and Taiwan for 3-7 day workshops.
His expansive professional background includes a Masters degree in Geology from University of Southern California (USC) where he also was a teaching assistant in Geology. He worked for several years as a “Geothermal exploration Geologist; received a full wrestling scholarship as an undergraduate. He has taught Geology at Pierce College in the San Fernando Valley, Ca, and Biology and Earth Science at the American Community School in London, England. He holds a lifetime Ca. Junior College credential.
Allan was a building contractor for over 25 years. Iyengar Yoga helped maintain a healthy body as well as a providing the ability to calm his mind. He is a practicing professional reflexologist and body worker, practicing the healing arts for over 50 years. He is an ordained minister, clairvoyant and recognizes the close interconnection of his ministry and his yoga teaching.
Allan’s varied life experiences have enabled him to connect with students of all walks of life. His teaching style directs and empowers them towards realizing the harmony of the inner being, aligning body, mind and spirit. Allan focuses on emphasizing the importance of developing a solid foundation of awareness; to live in the moment and experience the Self. As a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher he is: patient, stimulating, good-natured, open minded and accessible.
